In this workshop, we raise our voices for liberation and acknowledge the importance of scrutinizing power. Where do you have knowledge? Expertise? How do you speak with power and move through conflict? Through song and movement and practice, Suzanne will help us free our truth, prepare to raise our voices in the final weeks of the election and amplify them with our collective magic.
After breaking down the barriers to voting with Card 4, The Emperor, we are supported in this workshop by Card 5, The Hierophant. This is Kamala Harris' Soul Card! The 5’s teach us about persisting through adversity. As she was growing up, Kamala Harris’ mother told her: “If something bothers you, don’t complain. Do something.” That teaching is embedded in Harris’ history as an advocate for women and working people. And yet, The Hierophant and the 5’s also describe the center of conflict. We know that as Biden’s VP, Harris has failed to stop the atrocity in Gaza even as she named the need for a ceasefire. We feel the places where we have been disappointed or disappointing in our own activism. We see the conflict clearly and also we speak loud and clear for the choice that opens the door to more liberation.
This is the soul work prescribed by the Hierophant and all the 5’s. In the center of constriction, in the crossroads of conflict, we move forward with integrity… even if it feels achingly slow. We trust the compass of our bodies to guide us, even as we allow ourselves to long for more. We take one step at a time, toward the just and life-sustaining society that our descendants deserve and that we want for this world we love. Come join us as we open our throats, our hearts, our centers and remember how to move toward justice together.
